The Mountain Man

Out of nowhere, Jeremy decides he wants to put on a baseball hat and a backpack ... so he can be the "mountain man." He was also adamant on taking a whistle and his favorite stuffed animal (a yellow dinosaur named "Pumpkin") along for his imaginary expedition. This episode was extremely random, but it got me thinking about where we are at with Jeremy. I am not aware of how he came to understand the concept of a "mountain man." With 2 pre-schools, Sunday School, and TV, there are a whole lot of places where he's absorbing new ideas. And since he typically declines to tell me how his day went, I have absolutely no clue about the kinds of things filling up that little head of his. As we observed with Karinna, the external influences on your child grow more and more once they start going to kindergarten, then first grade, etc., etc. This raises the stakes for parents. You have to stay on your toes to remain the primary influence in your child's life.
